We worked 12-hour shifts, 4 days on and then 2 days off, with never more than 2 days off in a row unless one took bvacation/b time, which was not very liberal to say the least. I remember my starting wage was $4.06 an hour and b.../b And even while sitting on some Orange County street corner, day after day, baking in the hot sun, we were not allowed to run that AC - because as the bNimburg's/b, who owned the service - would say, "It wears down the engine."
